he calls himself Hova or Hov short for Jehovah, which is Hebrew for God. the triangle is meant to look more like a diamond, sometimes called ‘throw up the roc’, or ‘dynasty sign’ it’s the Roc a Fella records symbol. Roc a Fella was the label Jay, Dame Dash, & some other dude founded in the mid 90s. Rocafella was one of the first hip hop empires, to create a fashion line and music and lifestyle products all under one brand. People use it to celebrate victory and greatness, you’ll sometimes see athletes throw it up, or celebs hanging out with Jay. It’s become a kinda branding thing, to show you’re down with the Roc & the dynasty and was born out of a time when people threw up gang signs, this was their ‘gang’ in a sense.
